The well known Terme di Saturnia, located a few kilometers far from Manciano, include a set of hot springs of sulphurous type. The ancient Baths of Petriolo are situated along the river Farma. Chianciano Terme sorge a 475 m sul crinale che spazia dal lago Trasimeno ai contrafforti boscosi del monte Amiata. L’abitato ha due nuclei storici: il borgo medievale e la zona dei parchi termali. La prima valorizzazione delle acque termali avvenne nel VII° secolo. Il parco termale di Chianciano conta 5 fonti, con differente mineralizzazione e temperatura, alle quali corrispondono diverse strutture di cura. Le fonti principali sono: Acqua Santa, Acqua Fucoli e Acqua Sillene. Le acque sono rinomate per il trattamento delle malattie del fegato, dello stomaco e della circolazione. La sorgente oligominerale Sant’Elena è situata su di una collina, immersa completamente nel verde di querce secolari, cipressi ed olivi che formano una vera oasi naturalistica. Le acque sono efficace anche nelle patologie del fegato e delle vie biliari, quali la dispepsia, la calcolosi biliare e difficoltà digestive. L’acqua può essere bevuta a temperatura naturale, tiepida o calda al mattino, a digiuno, oppure nel pomeriggio perché favorisce la digestione. La località era già nota per la presenza della cosiddetta “acqua puzzola di Sant’Albino”, una sorgente di acqua sulfurea, e per le cave di travertino. Infatti, la prima citazione delle acque sulfuree di Montepulciano risale al 1571. La costruzione dello stabilimento termale risale al 1966, quando venne anche scavato il pozzo che consentiva di captare le acque a 132 m di profondità, portandole in superficie senza che entrassero in contatto con l’aria per mantenere intatte le qualità terapeutiche dello zolfo e degli altri minerali che svolgono attività antisettica, anticatarrale, antispastica ed antiallergica. Le vicende della zona sono sempre state legate alla storia del suo territorio ricco di sorgenti termali, conosciute anche ai tempi degli etruschi e successivamente dei romani. Bagno Grande – il nome è dovuto alla grande affluenza d’acqua che sorga in numerosissimi zampilli fin sopra la superficie del terreno. È una fonte d’acqua chiara e limpida dalle molteplici proprietà curative.
Bagno Bossolo – le sue acque sono tra le più tiepide della zona. Caratteristica di questa sorgente è la proprietà curativa su lesioni da ustioni: immergendo la parte bruciata, le cicatrici ottengono visibili benefici.
Doccia della Testa – è la sorgente più frequentata dagli abitanti. Le proprietà terapeutiche sono legate al forte getto di acqua calda proveniente dall’alto.

La scoperta, in località Campo Muri, dei resti di un grande complesso termale romano conferma la considerazione che già i romani avevano di questa stazione di cura. L’acqua del parco termale di Rapolano, classificata solfurea-bicarbonato-calcica, sgorga a 39°C principalmente da due sorgenti, in corrispondenza delle quali sono ubicati gli attuali stabilimenti termali con annessi alberghi: Terme Antica Querciolaia – un complesso termale di fisionomia moderna, e Terme di San Giovanni – frequentate anche da Santa Caterina da Siena. I trattamenti comprendono bagni, fanghi e inalazioni. Numerosi sono i pacchetti e i trattamenti estetici proposti: anticellulite, dimagrante e benessere.
