The well known Terme di Saturnia, located a few kilometers far from Manciano, include a set of hot springs of sulphurous type. The water flows at a temperature of 37.5 °C and has appreciated therapeutic properties. According to a legend the sulfur waters, already known to the Etruscans and the Romans, were formed in a point hit by a thunderbolt hurled by Jupiter. Following a violent quarrel with brother Saturn, the king of Olympus would have sent a lightning, however, missing the target. The main sources are conveyed in a large and luxurious spa equipped with every comfort and with four pools. Possible treatments are the most classic: mud, steam baths, saunas, massages and other therapies. There is also a line of cosmetic products based on Bioglea, an exclusive extract of thermal plankton. There are five areas of wellness, such as hydrotherapy, beauty, stress management, diet and fitness. The waters eventually spill by creating two natural waterfalls: the Mill Waterfall, named after an old mill, and those of Gorello, both free and well attended.

The baths were already known since Roman times and the Etruscans. They are located a short distance from the historic route of the Via Aurelia. The thermal waters were known as Aquae Populoniae. The place is probably the same in Populonia Terme, mentioned in historical sources. The waters are rich in sulfur and flow from two separate springs around the volcanic crater. The water from the source of Caldana, used for spa treatments at today’s Valley of the Sun settlement, has character and eminently sulfur springs at 45 ° C by a crater and from various wells. The water of the Canneto source, at 34 ° C, is used instead to feed the large thermal pool with slides and bathing facilities. The effectiveness of the therapeutic properties of the water is fully recognized in the treatment of respiratory diseases, rheumatic diseases, liver, skin and peripheral vascolopatie. The baths include a spa where guests can play mud baths, massages, whirlpools and beauty treatments and a thermal pool, referred to as “Bagni di Caldana” and lake “The Calidario”. The wide area where stands the springs is located 5 km from the sea and is the Venturina Thermal Park.>

I trattamenti comprendono bagni, fanghi e inalazioni.
